Therapy Through Creativity

Posted on Posted in Blog, Emotional Guidance

Hey guys,

I hope you’re all doing okay & everything’s going well for you,

I’ve mentioned before that I’m interested in the power of writing to heal & I was recently invited to go to the NSPCC Centre in Cardiff to see the kind of work that they do.

Children who have suffered abuse have the opportunity, in the NSPCC Centre, to use art therapy & play therapy to convey their emotions.

I’ve written a full blog post about it over on my creative writing blog at www.alicemariarose.wordpress.com

When I was in hospital having chemo, writing about different places took me away from the hospital room that I was stuck in – it was like an escape. Later on, years after chemo, I wrote a little bit about my experiences & it was so cathartic.

Diane Brueton’s ‘Dancing With Cancer’ is a great book if you’re interested in art therapy too 🙂

Give it a try – express yourself!
